Honda CX500 Custom Paint – “Grandfather’s Axe” by Brick House Builds
A modern take on the Honda Wing, reshaped to follow the cylinders and the lines of the tank.

We handled the custom paint for this Honda CX500, nicknamed “Grandfather’s Axe,” built by BJ at Brick House Builds. Working together, we developed a graphic concept that reinterprets the classic Honda Wing logo and reshapes it to fit this build. The red wing elements rise off the cylinder layout and carry up into the tank, then sweep back to emphasize the tank’s top line and knee dents.
The tail section is fiberglass and received custom blue and red striping along with the HRC Honda Racing logo across the top. The striping ties the seat and tank together without overpowering the overall design. Every graphic element was created using in-house cut vinyl stencils combined with hand-masking, resulting in fully painted graphics buried under clear.
All parts were finished in automotive basecoat and 2K clearcoat, then wet sanded and polished to a mirror shine. The end result is crisp, durable, and cohesive—true to Honda heritage, but tailored specifically to this CX500.
